PROGRAM (DVD/1.85/5.1)
A college football team really begins to feel the pressure: they haven't been to a bowl game in years, the coach fears for his job, the quarterback is going through a Heisman campaign, and other players just want to get pro contracts.
Genre: Feature Film-Drama
Rating: R
Release Date: 3-SEP-2002
Media Type: DVD
This is the movie blamed for encouraging college kids (and others) to lie down on the painted divider between lanes of highway traffic. (Incredibly, the studio pulled the film in its opening weeks and deleted the allegedly offending scene.) James Caan plays a football coach under tremendous pressure from his university's sports program to come up with a winning team. The story focuses on the fallout of that pressure on the lives of several players and the program itself. It's all rather flat and TV-movie-like, and because there is an emphasis on issues instead of characters, the actors work doubly hard to bring dimension to their stock roles. On the plus side, the cast is largely composed of young actors who have come a long way since the film's release. --Tom Keogh

The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program
Price: $15.00 USD
Building on the science of nutrition that she outlined in her bestselling book, Potatoes Not Prozac, Dr. Kathleen DesMaisons now presents the first complete, in-depth dietary plan for living with–and healing–sugar sensitivity. She explains exactly how you can free your mind and body from the tyranny of sugar and shake off the exhaustion, mental fogginess, and mood swings that sugar dependence causes. Revealing the various ways sugar addiction affects both men and women, and the unique methods for healing it, Dr. DesMaisons encourages you to custom-tailor her simple program to fit your lifestyle and includes information on

• How to integrate a “slow-carbs not low-carbs” strategy into your diet
• Why regular protein is essential and how to get it with every meal
• What to eat when a sugar craving strikes
• How to get the nutrition you need on the run–even at fast-food restaurants
• How to find an exercise program you’ll enjoy
• Ten breakfasts you can prepare in a flash
• Menus and recipes for every lifestyle and taste

Practical, hands-on, and reader friendly, The Sugar Addict’s Total Recovery Program will transform your life by helping you eat right–starting today!
Sugar lurks in foods in more than 85 different forms. Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D., the first person to receive a doctorate in addictive nutrition, says that besides being detrimental to the immune system, the more than 100 pounds of processed sugar consumed annually by each American is responsible for "mood swings, depression, fatigue, fuzzy thinking, PMS, impulsivity ... [and] unpredictable temper." And while overdosing on the sweet stuff is a national pastime, she says her research shows indulging in sugar highs should be treated much more seriously, akin to heroin or alcohol dependency, because sugar causes spikes in the neurotransmitters serotonin and beta-dopamine just like those drugs--and can eventually wreak similar mayhem on one's health, work, and relationships.

The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program is not a quick fix; DesMaisons's plan aims to eliminate sugar cravings, requiring five days of "detox," along with building up the resolve to stick to the recommendations over time--including while out at restaurants, during social gatherings, and while traveling. Fortunately, she offers plenty of tips for those situations, and her prescription is practical and easy to follow, including seven steps as simple as making sure some protein is included with each meal. (That's not to say this is a high-protein, low-carb diet; she criticizes Dr. Robert Atkins and other fad-diet hawkers.) DesMaisons includes more than 50 recipes that cover breakfast through dinner; advice for choosing comfort foods to replace those M&Ms and sodas; and an invitation to join the support group she runs through her Web site. The Recovery Program should be of particular interest to parents and teachers, considering the way sugar-saturated foods are ruthlessly marketed to children--Coke machines are more and more commonplace in elementary schools--and that many of the behaviors DesMaisons links to sugar sensitivity are remarkably similar to those of ADHD. --Erica Jorgensen

Program Flavor Tabs for Dogs 21-45 Pounds and Cats 7-15 Pounds (6 Tablets)
Price: $76.99 USD

Once-a-month Flavor Tabs for the prevention and control of flea populations in dogs and for the control of flea populations in cats.

Six, 204.9 mg Tablets

For full product information, read package insert.

An adult female flea can lay up to 2000 eggs in her lifetime, each of which can grow up to live on your pet and lay more eggs in your home. Given the speed at which these pests reproduce, it's no wonder that fighting an infestation can feel like a losing battle. 100% safe and effective, Program is like a birth control pill for fleas, controlling flea populations by preventing the development of eggs and larvae. Once the life cycle is broken, existing adult fleas die off to leave your pet flea-free. Pre-existing immature fleas in the dog’s environment may continue to develop for a short time. This emergence generally occurs during the first 30 to 60 days, so if your pet already has fleas, noticeable results may not be observed until several weeks after dosing. To speed up the process for particularly severe infestations, you can use a product that kills adult fleas in conjunction with the first dose of Program. (Your veterinarian can recommend the most effective treatment plan for your pet.)

Perhaps the best way to use Program, however, is before the problem even starts, administering a Flavor Tab once a month year round to prevent your pet from ever developing an infestation. Always give Flavor Tabs with or just after a meal, crushing and mixing with wet food or dosing directly. Be sure to treat every pet in the household for the most effective results. This product includes 6, 204.9-milligram tablets appropriate for dogs 21 through 45 pounds, and cats 7 through 15 pounds. Program is safe for puppies and kittens as young as four weeks old.

Label Information
Ingredients
The active ingredient in Program Flavor Tabs is lufenuron, a benzoylphenylurea derivative classified as an insect development inhibitor (IDI). As an insect development inhibitor, Program Flavor Tabs do not kill adult fleas. Instead, they effectively and safely control flea populations on your pet by breaking the flea’s life cycle at the egg stage. Without concurrent use of an adulticide, adequate flea control may not be achieved in pets that have repeated exposure to flea-infested animals or environments.

Warnings
Not for human use. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. The following adverse reactions have been reported in dogs after giving Program Flavor Tabs: vomiting, depression/ lethargy, pruritus (itchy, scratchy skin), urticaria (wheals, hives), diarrhea, anorexia (loss of appetite), and skin congestion (red skin).

Special Instructions
To ensure adequate absorption, always administer Program Flavor Tabs immediately after or in conjunction with a normal meal. Be certain the dog consumes the entire tablet or tablets. As an alternative to direct dosing, tablets may mixed in food. Watch the dog closely following dosing to be sure the entire dose has been consumed. If it is not entirely consumed, redose once with the full recommended dose as soon as possible.
To ensure that your pet gets the greatest benefit from treatment, administer the tablet or tablets once a month. If you miss the 30-day interval, give Program Flavor Tabs immediately and resume your monthly dosing schedule.
PROGRAM Flavor Tabs should be stored at room temperature, between 59° and 86°F (15-30°C).
